The majority of cats are easy to litter pan train. Most will begin to use the tray shortly after being acquainted with it. Your new cat may already know how to use a litter box, since many kittens learn to use it from watching their mothers. Cats tend to be very picky by nature, and can snub things for several reasons (even if we don’t know the reason!). That’s why its important to choose the right box, and train your cat properly

Before you start litter training, its important to realize that cats normally desire to do their business outdoors. Unless they are marking territory, they prefer to go and then cover it up. Picking a cat litter box that your cat likes and will actually use is important, as using a litter box goes against her natural instincts. To achieve success in litter pan training, observe the following tips and recommendations:

1. Your kitten will litter train easier if she uses the same type of litter she’s been used to. Find out what she’s been using, and purchase the same brand and type.

2. You will want to pick a litter pan that easy for your kitten to get in and out of. Fill the tray according to the cat litter manufacturer’s directions. The litter tray should be deep enough so that your cat doesn’t scatter litter all over the floor during use.

3. Be sure to put the litter tray somewhere that can be easily accessed by your cat. A traffic-free corner is best and be sure to keep it far from your kitten’s food and water. You may even need to consider using more than one litter tray to provide your kitten with greater access to a tray.

4. If you have other cats, you will want to make sure that each of your cats has its own litter pan. If possible, place them in different areas. Many cats will reject a common litter tray used by other cats in the household, as they generally like to relieve themselves in peace.

5. Acquaint your new cat to her litter box by putting her in it often, particularly after she eats. Praise your kitten whilst it is in the tray, and give even more praise if he/she actually uses it.

6. Regularly clean your litter pan by removing any soiled litter when needed, and a more throrough cleaning at least once a week. Many household disinfectants are deadly to pets, therefore you should use a pet disinfectant to clean the litter tray. Some cats dislike strong, chemical scents. Avoid cleaners that have a strong smell, as they may discourage your cat from using the litter tray. Never change a litter box when you are pregnant, as there is a risk of toxoplasmosis.

7. You should never leave your kitten alone without a litter tray, as cats can develop cystitis if they fail to go to the toilet for a long time.

Since cats don’t typically respond to verbal commands like dogs do, you need to be very patient during the training process. Immediately pick up your kitten and place her in the litter box anytime you see her scratching our crouching. Be patient with your kitten, most catch on to litter training quickly, but others require more patience. If you find that your kitten still doesn’t get the message, then you could try using a spray that is specially formulated to attract cats to their litter boxes. If you find that your kitten has decided to use your sofa as a toilet, then you can also purchase a cat repellent spray that will deter your kitten from furnishings. Hopefully, with a little encouragement, your kitten should soon begin to use its litter tray regularly without any further problems.

These days, cats are among the most popular pet you can own.  There are several breeds available, with the most popular being Persian and Siamese.  Cats are a domesticated animal, with origins dating back some 8,000 years and beyond.  Like any other pet that you may own, including dogs, cats cost money to take care of properly.

When you get a cat, you’ll need to think about the costs.  You’ll obviously need food, and you’ll also need to plan ahead for vet costs.  You’ll also need litter, which can tend to get quite expensive as the years go by.  Your cat will need a litter box, food dish, and water dish.  You should also invest in some toys as well, such as a scratching post, cat toys, a pet carrier, and a bed.  You should also look into getting an ID collar as well, just in case your cat ever gets lost.

Age of a pet is an important thing to keep in mind in order to feed them.An older cat needs two small meals or one large for the whole day.  Kittens on the other hand, require several feedings a day until they get around the age of 12 weeks.  Cats that are between three and six months of age need to be fed three times a day.  Canned food can be fed to cats, although any food that has been left out longer than 30 minutes need to be disposed of.{ Canned food can get expensive fast, and you should always keep in mind that some may get invariably wasted when you buy it}.Cats love to have canned food, though it is does give any benefit to its dental health as the other dry food does.

As an alternative plan, you can always leave a supply of dry food out for your pet.  When you give your cat dry food, you should always make sure that he has enough water.Dry foods are cheaper than the canned ones, additionally it helps in preventing the buildup of tartar on the teeth of your pet cat.  When you buy dry food, you should always look in terms of health and benefits, and stay away from generic food.Although generic food are cheaper in comparison to others, but it may not have the quality of nutrients which your pet requires.

If you own a kitten, you should only give you kitten food designed for him.  You’ll also need to clean and refill his water dish every day.  Even though kittens and adult cats like cow’s milk, you should avoid giving it to them as it can cause diarrhea.  Treats are fine on occasion, although too many of them can cause your pet to get fat.  Feeding your kitten human food is good on occasion, although you may have to mix it in with his cat food.

By themselves, cats stay fairly clean.  Although you don’t have to bathe them that often, you’ll need to give them a brushing at least once a day.  Brushing will reduce the risk of hairballs and keep your cat’s coat nice and clean.  If you are keeping your cat indoors, you’ll need to have a litter box in an area that is easy for your cat to access.  You should always scoop it on a daily basis, and clean it out once a week.  Cats don’t like to use dirty litter boxes, they prefer for it to be nice and clean.

Although cats do require some work, they are great pets that will provide you with years and years of companionship.  As long as you take care of your cat and take him to the vet for his checkups, he should remain healthy.  Even though cats can get sick from time to time – knowing how to care for him will make a world of difference.
